External Timber Doors
Hardwood/oak is a by word for strength and durability but this should not be confused with the fact it is most vunerable and can easily be degraded if constantly exposed to rain or hot sun. A south/South Westerly elevation facing the prevailing weather is the worst scenario. To preserve the beautiful appearance and to guarantee long, trouble-free service, it is essential to provide adequate shelter from the worst elements of the weather. Position the door from the front face of the building or fit a canopy/ open porchway projecting not less than 1.5 m. All of these doors are of engineered consruction and must be fully sealed with paint or varnish, paying particular attention top, bottom and side edges. Lock and hinge cut outs must be treated. It is important you adhere to these recomendations and maintain your door to manufacturer specifications.
